I JAM THEREFORE I AM!!!

As a veritable metal fiend, I simply can’t get enough! I have been into metal since it first evolved from hard rock. IT’S IN MY FREAKIN’ BLOOD! So, it was only natural for me to end up playing it myself starting at the tender age of 17. By now, I have been playing metal for half my life and I see myself still playing it somehow at age 80—if I manage to live that long and still have enough working parts.

WHAT I BRING TO THE BAND:

· Attitude and zeal that is best summarized by a Henry Rollins lyric-- YEAH, HARD! ALL THE WAY HARD. ALL THE WAY HARD!!

· Thought-provoking lyrics delivered with stylistic influences ranging from old school hardcore punk to classic thrash to death metal.

· Crunchy chords, heavy riffs interspersed with occasional groove, solos that burn and once in a while wax a bit melodic, full-on grinds, arpeggio-driven mood swings—all things six-string.

· Laughter rooted in a twisted sense of humor spiked with irreverence.

· An undying love for real metal music coupled with a steady dedication to the craft.

HOW I GOT STARTED:

Growing up fully immersed in hard rock and heavy metal, I was a mondo-mega fan of a good many bands. So much so that by the age of 13, I began doing lip sync contests of some of my favs. This continued into high school where I met a friend who played bass for real, but was into the idea of doing lip sync contests with myself and other friends. He soon challenged myself and our standby lip sync drummer (the great Ryan Dyson—now of ASHEN RELIC fame) to buy the gear that we were continually borrowing for these contests so that we could start a real band. Ryan did his part in fairly short order and began practicing.

For me, the money was a challenge. Fortunately, I got hit by a car soon after while riding my ten speed on Sandy Boulevard. The driver settled with me in cash out of court and I used the money to buy the guitar I had been borrowing. Cool twist of fate, huh?

Thus, my first band was born and the saga goes on to this day!

OTHER BANDS I HAVE BEEN A PART OF:

DEAD X—Heavy groove and chug-- very metal.

SCARFIST-- A polarized sort of sound and style of heavy metal: short & simple versus not.

DYOMINACH—Progressive Metal power trio with expansive stlyistic influences.

ROADKILL-- Speed Metal interspersed with moments of bluesy, heavy melody.

VYPER—One serious cover band with some originals-- a great deal of fun though!

SOLDIER BLACK—Where it all began: 3 teen metal heads cutting their teeth.

SUMMING IT ALL UP:

While my taste in music exceeds the bounds of metal, I am first and foremost a bonafide, die hard devotee of full-on, balls-out, raging metal. There is no other kind of music that is so in my soul that I feel compelled to play it myself. Thanks for doing your part to keep the real metal scene alive and thriving. If you haven’t heard our stuff yet, and you dig metal with an old school flavor and a progressive edge, treat yourself to our self-titled e.p. out now.
